Green Up is the brainchild of a group of environmentally conscious Australians. Looking to bring that concept of ‘Clean Up Australia Day’ into a modernised and gamified way that is accessible to everyone. Green Up the app aims to get the community together and clean up their surroundings at the same time. With the option for a business or personal profile this app can be used on a large scale such as in a School setting, or as small as a retired couple just looking to do their part every now and again.
This app aims to be accessible for everyone and versatile for everyone. Users are able to check the interactive Green Up map before going on this daily walk to see where some target areas need cleaning up near them. Go through those areas and afterwards record how much rubbish they collected, if they believe it is a hot spot for rubbish and if they noticed anything unique about the area. Discovery of native flora, and or fauna in the area that will lead to energising the community to keep their surroundings clean.
Stretch goals

As funding increases so does Green Up. We have set a range of stretch goals that will be implemented when each goal has been met. Dig deep and support this cause so that we can provide positive environmental changes.
Taxonomy mapping – this will allow users to search a database of known species and find detailed information and catalogue native flora and fauna found as they visit and clean up local areas. With the inbuilt functionality of GPS and camera/sound recording this will enable users to become citizen scientists and help in further research into the spread of native species, invasive weeds, and other interesting finds.
Individual Waste Management – By incorporating reminders and score boards to aid in reducing power and water usage in the home – via simple bill tracking (kWh and litres used) and by having users document the rates of recycling and more importantly take charge inside the purchasing of items at the start of the cycle to reduce waste at the store front.
Composting Kits – With large amounts of green waste going to landfill this is an obvious reward. A simple recycled plastic composting kit, and additional guide to composting written and published via the application to aid users to again work to decrease their outgoing domestic waste.
Regen Kit – A collection of native seeds which belong to local areas, simple video details of how to recycle materials into seed starters pots, and examples of how to plan out native space along a nature strip.
Community and School Roadshow – An eco bus will tour schools and community centres spreading the word of cleaning up, waste managements, regeneration projects, and other local and national campaigns. Visits to schools will include engagement beyond the app. to join the dots in local communities.
Why why need your help
At Green Up we understand the importance of protecting our precious earth and the home it provides for so many vital living species. The well being of future generations is greatly affected by what we do now, which is why it’s time to Green Up and take action.
We aim to clean up the planet for those very reasons, however we know we can’t do it on our own. We need you! The success of the app relies on your active participation, Green Up provides you with the motivation to pick up rubbish in your local areas and track yours and others progress. Take pride in where you live today, or explore new areas and be a part of an online community that seeks a more sustainable future.
We need your generous funding in order to make this a possibility. With your help we can launch the Green Up app in the App store and Google Play and make it free for everyone to carry out their own clean up adventures. Your financial contribution is an investment that will make a difference, as we grow we will have the opportunity to expand and release additional updates and features.

Risks and challenges
We believe we have a unique project and a team of people who have a passion for wanting to help the environment. When it comes to the start-up we need the money to pay for the development of the application and ongoing costs of hosting. Some challenges we face are how to make the UI/UX engaging and knowing who the target audience is. Ultimately, we will grow funding and brand support from the supermarket’s endorsement, this will lead to partnerships with councils and schools and further afield our engagement with millennials and younger generations.
Like any new product there are some risks involved, if our app is received positively and we have widespread adoption of the system we will need help to control the crisis of engagement. Another challenge would be how to control the donations and hold the monies in trust correctly. Lastly, how can we make a positive impact instead of just using this app to win?
